These cymbals are helping me get back on my throne (drum throne that is). I wanted to restart my drumming after 40 years - I set up my (now) vintage drum set, signed up for on-line lessons and started practicing. It wasn't long before I was de-throned (pun intended) by my spouse for making too much noise. These L80's fill the bill. I tried various drum and cymbal mutes but wasn't thrilled with the result. Price was low-ish, but a poor experience. Next thought was an electric kit - but the $500 kit turned out to be almost double after seeing I needed headphones, a drum app, etc. The L80's that seemed expensive before now looked like a bargainAfter a trip to the drum store and seeing the result of combining L80's and mesh heads on the drums, I went that route. The cymbals have good sound, the feel of "real cymbals", and low volume. They wouldn't replace the real thing for gigs, but do a great job of allowing me to keep the volume low and still feel like I'm playing a real drum set.One thing to remember - don't compare them to standard cymbals, but to the other alternate drum and cymbal mutes that make it sound like you're using rubber garbage cans for drums and their lids for cymbals.
