First things first; this is my first cycling bib purchase. My normal cycling kit is padded underwear (imported) and a workout t-shirt. However I have decided if I am going to be a cyclist, I should dress like a cyclist. I also ride at a pace where I should start paying attention to aero, and the person riding accounts for ~70% of the aero drag. Buying a single cycling kit with both bibs and shirt is out as I have an atypical build (42 chest, big shoulders, 28 wasp like waist that results in too much taper for standard sizes top and bottom).Amazon Essentials for cycling bibs seemed a fine place to start, especially with the additional damaged packaging warehouse discount. Rarely disappointed, never top quality, but if you include "for the price" in your analysis you are also going to be pleased. I used them for a 40-km ride this a.m.; my best pace yet but let's attribute that to placebo effect and being outfitted like a spandex racer wannabe meant others yielded and allowed me space to pass.As to size, I am ~160-lbs, 5-9, 28-29 waist and I ordered a small. Snug but everything stayed where it was supposed to with no chafing or rubbing. Right now (after a single use), I am pleased with this purchase. As to durability, you will have to check back later.Super excited to see AMZ Essentials enter the cycling apparel market. I own a lot of kits & always looking for basic gear to add to the rotation. Purchased size L for road cycling activity. Quality construction & stitching, especially at this price point. Lightweight material best for warmer temps. Chamois pad is stiff & little bulky but that’s what I expected for an entry-level pair of bibs. In my experience it will loosen up with use, so for me it’s manageable for short rides.I’m 5-10, 165lbs with lean build. The torso & shoulder fit are fine.As others have noted, the leg design is the primary source of disappoint. The silicon grips are easily stretched but the bigger issue is the leg length, which measures right at 4” inches from the inseam to the bottom. By comparison, a similar priced bib leg (seen in pic on the left) is over 6” inches in length, which makes a huge difference because it covers most of your quad. Unfortunately the shorter bib cuts right across the top of the primary muscle group that “flexes” during peddle rotations, so it only takes 2-3 revolutions for bunching to start. Attempts to pull back down are futile.A longer leg design with better grips would make these bibs a great value purchase. Instead, they miss the mark as a “must have” & work best when you just need to ride a few miles inside. They almost have it here! The material is a little too loose, like not supportive enough. A little too much stretch compared to my higher priced bibs. Also they are a little too short down the leg, I’m not a tall guy so it is weird to look down and see that much leg. The pad is surprisingly good, dense and shaped correctly. I rode a couple of 30ish mile rides in them but I’m not confident enough with them to go farther. I’ll keep them for indoor rides.I did not expect to like these because you'll rarely see quality bib shorts at this price (not that I've used 100$ shorts). The chamois or pad is on par. The short fit is a bit tight (thunder thighs). The tag is like a notebooks worth of paper and I cut it off. The stitching on the over should straps is on the inside (is this common?), is rather noticable, and is very irritating to the skin. For the price, these are good, value, bib shorts and I was surprised. If you're hardcore for material or can afford more, mind as well pass. These are cheap bibs. The padding and stitching are good for cheap bibs. The legs grips are just stickers and come off after the first wash. The legs do stretch out and with the poor grips the legs bunch easily during a ride. The length of the legs is shorter relative to Pearl Izumi or Gore Bike Wear branded bib shorts. Would prefer if the legs were longer by 1 inch.Great starter bibs. Good compression, and padding. Decided to go down a size to med. the leg section of the bibs are shorter than normal.I really love this bib! It has really good construction, the straps are wide enough that they don't chafe my nips the way some bibs do. The chamois is generous enough on your sit-bones for a decent 2-4 hour ride, but isn't so big that it looks like a diaper. Im actually thnking of buying another one.Good price, good fit and comfortable.Giving this 2 stars because because the fabric around waist ripped after a few months of use.Expected better quality for something Amazon branded.
