This is a really nice bag and worked great for air travel. It’s kind of a rubbery/leathery material that seems durable and feels like it’s high quality. There’s a ton of features on this bag, and the quality and number of features is probably why it’s pretty expensive- but worth it IMO.I’m a 5’7” male and easily fit the following in the bag: In the ski boot compartment- Ski boots, Hestra ski mittens, 3 ski socks, a balaclava, 3 t-shirts, and 1 long underwear. There was space around the outside of the boots to cram a lot of the soft items, and some items were shoved inside the ski boots. In the front compartment with the 1” expansion in use I fit shell ski pants, 1 pair jeans, 2 not-too-bulky sweaters, 3 underwear, and my toiletry bag. And in the detachable bag- iPad, Bose QC35, and a bunch of chargers and cables. I shoved my ski jacket in the helmet strap. Basically I was able to carry on the plane everything I needed if my checked ski bag got lost for a 3 day ski trip (can always rent skis and helmet and do a little laundry). Even with all the stuff listed in the bag, it was easy to close and there was room for more. But I’m only 5’7” so a larger person may fit less. It fit easily in the over head bin too. The detachable bag was really nice for air travel and IMO is one of the best features.I was also able to fit my 15” laptop in the laptop sleeve when fully loaded. But I didn’t travel with it- just wanted to see if it fit. It did fit, but it made the bag pretty crammed.
